Michele Adutwum

Michele Adutwum

Michelle is a graduating senior from Arroyo High School with a 4.27 GPA.   She plans to attend John Hopkins University and major in Molecular and Cellular Biology.  Her career plans are to become an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.  “To join the two percent of physicians who are Black females, working tirelessly to ensure that their communities have equitable access to quality healthcare.”

She participated in a variety of extracurricular activities including:  UCSF Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute Summer Student Research Program, President of the Black Student Union, Co-President of the California Scholarship Federation, Secretary of the Environmental Club, and played on the Varsity Girls Tennis Team.

Aaron Bradford

Aaron is a graduating senior from Salesian High School with a 3.00 GPA.  He plans to attend Texas Southern University with a health major.  He plans to go into the healthcare field to benefit his community and the greater society by inspiring and representing his family and city.

While in high school, he participated in the Young Scholars Program, JV and Varsity Football, JV and Varsity Baseball.

James Bell

James Bell

James attended Moreau Catholic High school earning a 3.97 GPA.  He plans to attend Santa Clara University and major in Bioengineering.  He wants to utilize his college education and internship research to change the medical standard/devices for diabetic patients.

James participated in a range of extracurricular activities including:  Varsity Basketball, NAACP Imani Youth Council, Link Crew Captain, Omega Academy of Excellence, 100 Black Men Mentoring Program, National Society of Black Engineers.

Robert Buckner

Robert Buckner

Robert is a graduating senior from St. Mary’s College High School with a 3.3 GPA.  He plans to attend Cal Poly Humbolt State in the field of Business Administration and with an interest in Music Production.

Robert participated in a variety of extracurricular activities including:  Hidden Genius Project, Varsity Choir, International Travel Ambassador (Australia, Central Europe, Ecuador), Varsity Track and Field, Varsity Soccer.

William Calhoun

William graduates from Bishop O’Dowd High School with a GPA of 4.2.  He plans to go to Howard University with a biology major.  His career goal is to become a pediatrician and help Black people gain trust in the medical system by creating comfortability.

He participated in several extracurricular activities including:  Varsity Baseball, Dragon Ambassador, the Racial Justice Group, Campus Ministry Team.

Aniya Chaney

Aniya is a graduating senior from Skyline High School with a 3.68 GPA.  She plans to attend Texas Southern University with a biology major and obtain her degree as a Registered Nurse.  She desires to work at a small clinic in a low poverty area to give back to the community.

Her extracurricular activities included:  Black Student Union, Chevron Future Leader Program, EOYDC Pathway to College, Administrative Intern/Youth Leader.

Zoey Colston

Zoey Colston

Zoey is a graduating senior from Bishop O’Dowd with an exceptional GPA of 4.20.  She plans to enroll in UC San Diego with a dual major in biological science and fine art.  As a medical and scientific illustrator she intends to collaborate with professionals and researchers to create renditions that teach, explain, and depict biomedical concepts.  She plans to design figures and informational learning tools used in scientific and medical journals, textbooks, presentations, and animations that will bridge gaps in medical and healthcare communication.

Zoey was highly involved in activities including:  UCSF CURE/HERO Internship, Black Student Union, Hundred Acre Woods Club Leader, Tennis Team, and Eco Club member.

Joy Dartez

Joy Dartez

Joy is a graduating senior from Carondelet High School with a 3.32 GPA.  She plans on attending Louisana State University and major in journalism.  She would like to be a sports journalist and to be able to inter athletes and get insights on how they are felling and what their thoughts are before the game begins.

Joy participated in a number of extracurricular activities including:  Jack and Jill, Inc. as Vice-President, Black Student Union, Athletic Service Club, Varsity and Mustang Soccer Club.

Brice is a graduating senior from KIPP King Collegiate High School with a 3.06 GPA.  He plans to attend UC Merced with a major in marine biology.  He would like to pursue pharmaceuticals and hope to develop medicines by using marine life resources.

His extracurricular activities included:  Basketball, President of Black Leaders on Campus, Co-Leader of United Front, Leadership Club.

Neranti is a graduating senior from Moreau Catholic High School with an amazing GPA of 4.3.  He plans to attend Howard University and major in computer science.  He wants to create a company that expands education to the youth of marginalized, particularly African American communities.

His extracurricular activities included:  Boy Scouts, Senior Patrol Leader, Hidden Genius, Youth Educator, Cross Country and Track & Field, Jazz Band.

Seynabou is graduating from Moreau Catholic High School with a 3.0 GPA.  She plans to attend Southern University and major in nursing.  She wants to pursue a career in nursing and eventually open her own clinic.

Her activities in school included:  Concert dance, Girls Equity Movement, JV Tennis Team, Black Girls Code, and Black Student Union.

Jonathan is a graduating senior from San Leandro High School with a 3.97 GPA.  He plans to attend the University of San Diego and major in pre-med.  He wants to become a primary care sports physician.

He participated in a variety of extracurricular activities including:  African American Student Union, President, San Leandro High Kiwanis Club, Green Scholars Program, Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program, National Society of High School Scholars, Coro Youth Leadership Program, 100 Black Men Mentoring and National Youth Leadership Program.

Justice is a senior graduating from Heritage High School with a 3.08 GPA.  He plans to go to Jackson State University and major in business.  He has plans to join the Air Force and one day open his own car dealership.

Justice participated in several extracurricular activities including:   Varsity Drumline, Air Force ROTC and the Oakland Military Jazz Band Ensemble.

Aminah graduates from San Leandro High School with a 3.4 GPA.  She plans to attend Howard University and major in Art History.  He wants to become a traveling Art Curator for different museums.

Her extracurricular activities included:  Cheer Team, Track Team, Black Student Union, EOYDC Pathway to College.

Meshai is a graduating senior from De Anza High School with a 3.6 GPA.  He will attend Morehouse College and major in kinesiology.  His long tern goal is to attain a career as a Director of Medicine or sports medicine.

While in school he participated in the following extracurricular activities:  TRIO/ Upward Bound, Varsity Baseball, Varsity Basketball.

Anela graduates from St. Mary’s College High School with a 3.29 GPA.  She plans to attend Texas Southern University and major in Business Administration.  She wants to go into managing or find an engaging career working with kids.

While in high school she participated in various extracurricular activities including:  Jason Kidd’s Select AAU Team, Varsity Track Team, Culture and Traditions Club, Sports News Broadcasting Club, BBQ Club.

Zinna Marie Thomas

Zinna is a senior from Leadership Public Schools with a 4.02 GPA.  She plans to attend Fisk University and major in psychology.  She wants to pursue a doctorate and has already taken four college classes while in high school.

While in high school she participated in the Mock Trail Program as the Lead Lawyer for 3 years, and served as the Student Government Co-Treasurer.

Aminah is a graduating senior from Oakland Technical High School with a 3.93 GPA.  She plans to attend UC Berkeley and major in psychology.  She would like to become a licensed child psychologist with the goal of opening her own family therapy practice, specializing in children and youth.

Her extracurricular activities included:  Coordinator of the Oakland Technical Hyphy Bulldogs Dance Team, President of Black Student Union, African American Student Action Program, Climate Justice Club, College Track Oakland Program, Girl Scouts of Northern California, and Positive Steps Program.

Trinity is a graduating senior from Middle College High School with a 3.5 GPA.  She plans to go to Hawaiian Pacific University and major in English.  She would like to become an International English Teacher in Korea, Spain, or Ghana to teach to high school students.

Her activities in high school included:  Biology Club, Debate Club, and Dance Club.
